About .sg Domains

Singapore Network Information Centre (SGNIC) Pte Ltd is the sponsor and Hexonet aka 1 Api GmbH / ADICIO PTE LTD is our backend provider for the country-code top-level domain name (ccTLD) .sg extension that represents Singapore.

Who can register .sg domains?

To purchase .sg domain names, you must provide the following:

  • Address located in Singapore
  • Be a citizen of Singapore, or have a Foreign Identification Number,(FIN) also referred to as the National Registration Identity Card,(NRIC)
  • The admin, technical, and billing contacts for .sg domains must be an individual and not a company
  • A company listed as the registrant must provide the Business Registration Number,(BID)

Registration restrictions

Registrants do not have the right to sell or transfer .sg domains to any party for profit.

Both the admin ID and BID fields are case sensitive.

  • Must use: 3 - 63 characters
  • Can use: Letters (a-z characters), numbers (0-9) and hyphens (except in the 1st or last characters of the domain name)
  • Cannot use: Special characters (e.g., & and #)
  • IDNs: Not Supported

Features

  • Registration length: 1-2 years
  • Renewal length: 1-2 years
    • Your .sg domain renews before its expiration date. If auto-renew is turned on, we'll attempt renewal 21 days prior to the domain's expiration date. If the first attempt fails, we'll continue attempting renewal multiple times prior to the domain's expiration date.
    • If we cannot auto-renew the domain name and you do not manually renew it by 7 days prior to the expiration date, you can attempt to recover your domain with any applicable fees.
  • Backorders: Not supported
  • Transfers to GoDaddy: Not supported
  • Transfers away from GoDaddy: Supported
    • Transfer Lock: Not Supported
    • If the WHOIS SGNIC registry Domain Status: RegistryLock - this is a service provided by the registry directly. For more information on Registry Locks please visit: Registry Lock FAQ
    • You must initiate the transfer with the gaining registrar and provide an authorization code. Contact a GoDaddy Guide to request an authorization code.
  • Transfers to another GoDaddy account: Not Supported
  • Domain Privacy: Not supported
  • Domain Protection: Not supported
  • CashParking: Not supported
  • Contact Updates: Supported
    • SGNIC registry sends daily instructional emails to the the admin contact requesting contact verification.
    • GoDaddy does not manage contact verification for .sg domains.
    • To update the domain's contact information, contact a GoDaddy Guide for assistance.

Nameserver requirements

  • Must use: 2-13 Nameservers
  • Can use: IPv4
  • Cannot use: IPv6, DNSSEC
  • If the DNS is not resolving and there are no apparent problems, do a WHOIS lookup at SGNIC registry. If the Domain Status: VerifiedID@SG-Pending (ID NOT VERIFIED. PENDING ADMIN CONTACT VERIFICATION - the Registry will not allow the domain name to resolve. Pending contact verifications are daily instructional emails from the registry to the the admin contact.

  • NS updates can take up to 5 days to complete.
