Can I create a QR code for my website?
A QR (quick response) code is a type of barcode that stores information such as a website URL, your contact details, a coupon code, a WhatsApp chat, a payments link or a link to your business app in an app store. When scanned with a smartphone camera or QR code reader app, it directs the user to the information.
Websites + Marketing doesn’t come with a built-in QR code generator, but you can use any free online generator to create the QR code and then upload it to your website as an image, or print it out for use on physical materials.
- Choose a QR code generator website or app: There are several third-party apps and websites that offer free QR code generation, so find one you like and get started.
- Create your QR code: Follow the steps for your chosen QR code generator to add the destination URL, whether it be a webpage, contact information or a social media profile.
- (Optional) Customize the design: Make sure the QR code aligns with your branding. Also, use high-contrast colors and make sure it’s large enough to easily scan.
- Test and implement: Before uploading the QR code to your website, make sure it directs users to the correct place and functions properly.
- Put the QR code to use: Download the QR code image and add it to your printed materials or upload it to a section on your website. To ensure all your visitors can access it, provide a text alternative (some descriptive text with a link, or the actual link if it’s short and easy to read).
