Unsupported Operating Systems for Gen 4 VPS & Dedicated Servers

Is my server on an unsupported OS?
You can view your server OS in your server dashboard.
- Sign in to your GoDaddy product page.
- In your My Products page, select Servers.
- Next to the Gen 4 server you want to use, select Manage.
- Look under your server name to verify the OS.
What do you recommend I do?
If your server is on an OS that is no longer supported, we strongly recommend you take this opportunity to open a new server with the latest OS and proactively migrate yourself to the new server.
We recommend migrating because major OS versions are not upgradable in the traditional sense. Migrations can involve significant changes to the underlying system, including the version of the kernel, system libraries, and various core components.
If you need help migrating, contact our GoDaddy Guides to learn about our paid migration service to a cPanel or Plesk server.
What happens if I don't migrate to a new server?
You can continue using your server, but using an unsupported OS poses several risks:
- Security updates, patches, or bug fixes may no longer be provided.
- Newer software applications or versions may not be compatible.
- Your server may experience degraded performance.
- Your server may violate compliance regulations.
- Technical support may not be available for issues you encounter.
