Common business registration rejection reasons and how to fix them
This guide explains common reasons why your business registration to send texts might be rejected, and how to fix your submission.
Your registration goes through a manual review process by a 3rd party, which verifies the information you provide. This helps ensure that only legitimate businesses are sending messages to the mobile carriers (Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile). Any inaccuracies, inconsistencies or falsified information may lead to the 3rd party rejecting your registration.
Select local or toll-free number to find out how to avoid your registration being rejected a second time.
You’ll need to pay an additional US$15 to resubmit your local number registration.
Select the rejection error you received.

The website URL could not be verified
The website URL you provided could not be reached. This can happen when:
- The URL provided is invalid
- The website provided is non-functioning or inaccessible
- The website provided is password protected
- Proper opt-in flow is not found on the website provided
- You are registering before launching your website and did not indicate that in the submission
- The social media profile URL you’ve submitted is set to private
Please update your website URL or ensure it can be reached. Make sure it’s not private/password-protected or, if it is, make sure there’s proper opt-in wording for customers to consent to receive messages from your business.
- If your website is specific to a region, indicate this in your campaign description and provide a publicly accessible URL to a screenshot of the site.
- If you’re registering before launching your site, include a publicly accessible URL to a screenshot of the site.
- If the opt-in occurs through your website, provide a direct URL to the opt-in page. The opt-in must include a check box or some other "call to action" for a customer to agree to receive text messages from you. Example: By entering my mobile # and checking this box, I agree to receive text messages from [your business name] about product or service information.
- If you need to provide an image through a publicly accessible URL, you can use services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.
Your opt-in workflow to receive consent to send text messages to end-consumers is insufficient.
The 3rd party reviewers need to be able to access where end-consumers opt in and agree to receive messages from your business.
Please explain in detail how customers consent/opt in to receive texts from you.
- List all consent methods.
- If consent is collected through a paper form or behind a login, provide a publicly accessible URL to an image of the opt-in flow.
- If opt-in occurs on a website, provide a link to the website. The website must have a privacy policy and terms of service and ensure opt in is not shared with 3rd parties. It must include a checkbox or some other "call to action" for a customer to agree to receive text messages from you. Example: By entering my mobile # and checking this box, I agree to receive text messages from [your business name] about product or service information.
- If you’re submitting using an EIN, your business website must be publicly accessible and include your Privacy Policy and Terms of Conditions (use of third-party Privacy Policy and Terms of Conditions are not allowed).
- If opt-in occurs by texting a keyword obtained from an advertisement, either physical or online, include a publicly accessible URL to the image of that ad.
- If you need to provide your opt-in as an image through a publicly accessible URL, you can use services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.
Your business does not qualify to register without an EIN
The information provided shows your business has an EIN (Federal Employer Identification Number or the Federal Tax Identification Number) and cannot be registered without it. Please re-register with an EIN and ensure you enter the exact legal business name and EIN found on your CP 575 EIN letter from the IRS.
- When resubmitting, select “Yes, I have an EIN.”
- Enter your legal business name and the EIN exactly as it's displayed on the CP 575 letter. If your full legal business name spans multiple lines on your CP 575/147c letter, input all the lines above the address line, which constitute your full legal business name.
- Do not use the legal business name found on the W2 or W9 forms because they may differ from what you have on the CP 575 notice. If you’ve lost your CP 575 notice, you can request a 147c letter from the IRS and use the information there for registration.
Legal business name and/or EIN mismatch
There’s a mismatch between your legal business name and the EIN provided. Please enter the legal business name and EIN exactly as it appears on CP 575 notice from the IRS.
- If your full legal business name spans multiple lines on your CP 575/147c letter, input all the lines above the address line, which constitute your full legal business name.
- Do not use the legal business name found on the W2 or W9 forms because they may differ from what you have on the CP 575 notice. If you’ve lost your CP 575 notice, you can request a 147c letter from the IRS and use the information there for registration.
You did not respond to OTP within 24 hours of registration
Ensure the mobile number you’ve provided is correct and resubmit your information to resend the OTP (one-time password) message. Respond to the new OTP message within 24 hours of receiving it for your registration to be processed. Failure to respond promptly will further delay processing your registration and will result in another rejection.
Website terms of service and privacy policy are not present or is not acceptable
Your website does not have a valid Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, or it's using a 3rd party’s terms. You must have your own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service on your business website and it must show that it’s for your own brand and not that of a third party. Please update your website’s terms and resubmit your registration.
Non-Profit documentation required
The 3rd-party reviewers could not verify your non-profit status with the IRS. Please submit a support ticket and upload your tax-exempt letter from the IRS for further assistance.
Website URL does not match your business or brand information
The business website you provided does not represent the brand or business information you submitted. For example, you have a plumbing business but the website you submitted does not reflect your plumbing business or it represents another company’s business.
Please submit the correct website URL for your business or update your website content to align with your brand/business.
