SEO for my WordPress posts and pages

The primary purpose of written content is to provide valuable information to site visitors and convey a message you want to share. However, you can leverage such content for other purposes, like improving your site's rankings on search engines. You can use a third-party plugin, like Yoast SEO, to help you optimize your content for search engines.

Required: Before you follow the steps below, you must choose the search term for which you want your post or page to rank on search engines. These terms are called keywords, and here's how to pick them.
Warning: Following the steps from this article will not guarantee that your site will be ranked at the top of the search engine results, but it could help improve your current ranking.
  1. Sign in to WordPress.
  2. Install and activate the Yoast SEO plugin.
  3. On the left-side menu, select Posts or Pages.
  4. Select the post or page you want to edit (select the name, not the checkbox).
  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page or post.
  6. In the Yoast SEO section, ensure that the SEO tab is selected.
  7. In the box under Focus keyphrase, enter the keyword for which you want to optimize your site.
  8. Select SEO analysis.
  9. If circles next to specific tasks are red or orange, complete the suggested tasks to turn them green.
    • For more guidance on a specific task, select the link provided by the plugin developer to read their official documentation.
  10. Select Update.

Congratulations, you've optimized the content of your site for search engines to improve your traffic! It can take time before you see ranking changes based on your updates. Local SEO can take as little as 1-2 weeks up to 3 months. Global SEO can take up to a year before you can see consistent improvement for high-competition keyword situations.

Note: If you need assistance using the Yoast SEO plugin, check out their official documentation or support forum on wordpress.org.
