Update your taxpayer identification number to match IRS records

For those located in the US, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requires your name and taxpayer identification number — such as your Employer Identification Number (EIN) or Social Security Number (SSN) — to match the information they have in their files or the files of the Social Security Administration (SSA). If the name and EIN or SSN on your Form W-9 do not match the data on file, you'll need to update your information.

Select the appropriate link below and follow the steps to update your information.

Note: Section 4 of GoDaddy's Universal Terms of Service Agreement requires you to provide accurate account information. It's imperative that you update your information by December 31, 2024 in order to receive payments in 2025.

Fixing incorrect name/TIN combinations

Use the instructions in the following sections to correct information for individuals and non-individuals and certain sole proprietors.

Correcting information for individuals

  1. If the last name and SSN on your account match your social security card, contact your local SSA office to verify the information and resolve any issues.
  2. If the SSN on your account differs from your social security card, but the last name is the same, provide your name and SSN as shown on your social security card.
  3. If the last name on your account differs from your social security card, but the SSN is the same:
    1. If the last name on your account is correct, contact SSA to correct the name on your social security card.
    2. If the last name on your social security card is correct, provide that name and your SSN.
  4. If both the last name and SSN on your account differ from your social security card:
    1. If the last name and SSN on your social security card are correct, provide that name and SSN.
    2. If the last name on your account and the SSN on your social security card are correct, follow the procedure in section 3(a) above.

Once you have determined your correct name and TIN, you must provide this information to us (and other payors) for all your accounts to avoid future issues.

Correcting information for non-individuals and certain sole proprietors

For trusts, estates, partnerships, and similar entities, the TIN is the employer identification number (EIN). The EIN on your account may be incorrect if it does not include the actual owner's number. For example, an investment club or bowling league account should have the organization's EIN and name, not a member's SSN. Please provide the name and EIN.

A sole proprietor must provide their individual name and either their SSN or EIN for their sole proprietorship. The sole proprietor may also provide the business name, but their individual name must be listed first. Please provide the individual name and SSN or EIN.
