What's an MX record?
A Mail Exchanger, or MX, record is a type of DNS record that specifies which mail service is responsible for receiving emails on behalf of a domain name. It’s like a signpost that tells other services where to deliver emails for a particular domain.
When you send an email, your email service — like Microsoft 365 — looks up the MX record for the recipient’s domain to figure out where to send the message.
Setting up and managing MX records is usually done through your domain's DNS provider. For domains using GoDaddy nameservers, your DNS is managed through your GoDaddy Domain Portfolio.
