Domains Help

Change my domain Privacy level

Turn your Domain Privacy on or off and change what contact details show for your domain in the public WHOIS directory. Domain Privacy from GoDaddy keeps your contact details private by substituting your info with details from our privacy partner, Domains By Proxy®. When you turn Domain Privacy off, your personal domain contact info will show in the public WHOIS directory instead of the substitute details.

  1. Sign in to your GoDaddy Domain Portfolio. (Need help logging in? Find your username or password.)
  2. Select the checkboxes next to the domains you'll be updating. Or, select the checkbox next to Domain Name and then choose Select All.

  3. Select Privacy from the action menu.
    • Depending on your screen size, you may need to select the More menu and scroll down to see Privacy.
  4. Select your new Privacy level.
    • On: Turn Privacy on to hide all contact info for this domain and replace the contacts with details from our privacy service provider, Domains by Proxy®.
    • Limited: Limited Privacy will show some contact info for this domain, including the Registrant Organization, State and Country. No other contact details will be shown.
    • Off: Turn Privacy off to show all contact info for this domain. These details will be publicly available and could be used for phishing or spam, even if you turn Privacy back on.
  5. Select Save.
    • If your domain has Domain Protection, you'll need to verify your identity. If you've had 2-step verification (2SV) turned on for at least 24 hours, enter the code we sent via SMS, or enter the code from your authenticator app. Otherwise, enter the one-time password we sent to your registrant email address.

You'll see a Success confirmation after your changes are saved. It may take up to 90 minutes for the changes to show in your account and WHOIS.
