Tell us a little bit about yourself and what led you to join GoDaddy.

Similar to our feline friends, I think I might have 9 careers and am on my 6th one, as of now. Having spent the last 11 years in native app engineering and now product, I believe that is what defines me best, professionally! Personally, I enjoy traveling a fair bit. Being on a plane and staying in new hotels across the world brings me great joy and unique experiences in equal parts! I try to travel at least once a quarter and am currently making up for the time lost due to the pandemic.

I joined GoDaddy because of its leadership. I saw Aman’s note on LinkedIn at the start of the pandemic when there were layoffs across the industry and his note and the compassion I saw from GoDaddy for the employees who were transitioned out was phenomenal and something I did not see anywhere else. It reminded me of an old Indian saying that loosely translates to: “It’s easy to walk away from problems that may not seem yours but if you make all problems your own, you make the world a better place.”

So, when the GoDaddy opportunity came my way last May, I jumped at it and through the interview process, my perception was solidified by the kind, yet smart leaders I had the fortune of meeting!

If you had to describe GoDaddy’s culture in one word, what would it be and why?

Passion!

We win when our customers use our products to win in their own ventures! In order to do that, we must be passionate about making them win every single day and through everything we build. That passion is demonstrated in every team meeting, experiment discussion, monthly business review, townhall and all other leadership and team interactions. We use data, challenge hypothesis and push teams to provide outcomes for our customers that are faster, better, more competitively priced and in most cases, automagically created for them at a click of a few buttons. Passion clearly stands out as the value that we look for in all new hires, regardless of the level or opportunity.

What’s the most challenging yet rewarding thing that you’ve worked on at GoDaddy?

Bringing the OKR (objective & key results) process to the mobile ventures team — especially our studio product — was fairly challenging, yet rewarding. The GoDaddy Studio product helps entrepreneurs (current and future) to envision, build, and grow their business through tools that help automate a large majority of content and presence creation. We are also adding payment capabilities so our entrepreneurs can be set up for click to sell, in the future!

The process involved bringing product, design, tech, content, marketing and partner teams together to create objectives and key results a quarter in advance. Given that our product opportunity is so vast, we were able to get input from our partners in advance to prioritize outcomes that had the most value for the customer. Sometimes, these were quick wins we could get through cross team initiatives, such as: coupon codes to support marketing events, enabling DIFY auth or logo builder as an onramp for customers. We were able to identify unique opportunities that we may not have found, if we had only focused on product/engineering goals.

We also learnt that transparency and clear opportunity cost assessment can sometimes help bring outsized wins and also foster culture of trust which helps us collaborate better internally and externally.

What differentiates GoDaddy from other companies in India?

Ability to work from anywhere, amazing global benefits & commitment from our leadership for a world class product dev centre here in India. Additionally, being able to be a core/initial part of that growth story.

What’s your advice to job seekers looking to join you in India?

If helping people win is a core value for you, you will be successful 100% of your time at GoDaddy.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I enjoy planning and going to my next vacation/workcation!
