Empowering LatinX Representation: Meet Daffne Gavidia-Hart

3 min read

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your career at GoDaddy.

Hola! My name is Daffne, I was born in Lima, Peru, and am now based in California. I graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations, which laid the foundation for my career in communications. I began my professional journey in a small, boutique PR agency — quite fitting, as it was a small business. Over time, I expanded my horizons working at a global PR firm, gaining experience across various PR practices. The decision to join GoDaddy felt like a natural evolution for me, as it offered the opportunity to channel my skills toward something deeply meaningful—supporting small business owners like the one who gave me my very first job. That job was at a martial arts school, a true microbusiness, where I was one of only four employees. Because of this experience, I’ve always had a special place in my heart for small businesses. At GoDaddy, I get to contribute to their success every day.

Why did you get involved in our Employee Resource Groups?

My family is quite small, and I’ve been away from my home country for many years now. Joining GoDaddy LatinX (GDLIT) has been a wonderful way for me to stay connected to my Latin roots and build a sense of belonging here. Even though I might be the only Peruvian in the group, we share a deep connection through the rich similarities in our Hispanic cultures. It’s that shared sense of community that truly makes GDLIT a special space for me.

How do you embrace change or innovation in your work?

For me, embracing change and innovation is all about maintaining an open mind. Fabulous ideas can often come from everywhere, and leaning into colleagues and teammates is a wonderful place to find them. Being open to new perspectives not only enhances the quality of my work, but in a rapidly evolving field like PR, adaptability and a willingness to learn are key to staying ahead.

What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you, and why do you think it’s important to recognize it?

Hispanic Heritage Month has become increasingly important for me now that I’m a mother. It’s important to share my culture with my son and help him understand the heritage he’s also a part of. Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity for LatinX to showcase the contributions of Hispanic communities, not just for ourselves, but to bring awareness of the impact we’ve had and continue to have in shaping the world around us.

What does LatinX In Technology look like in 10 years?

I hope the future brings a significant rise in LatinX representation within the technology sector, not just in numbers but also in leadership roles. This can help foster a deeper sense of connection and empowerment within the professional world, in turn helping us to build stronger networks and advocate for each other in meaningful ways. It’s about creating an environment where LatinX individuals in tech feel seen, heard, and empowered to make meaningful contributions to the industry.
