So, what’s your story? What led you to GoDaddy (culture, employer brand, product, etc…)?

In 2014 I left the Dutch National Police force after 11 years of IT service and started working for GoDaddy. The GoDaddy company was looking for a manager for their location in Amsterdam and after three conversations I decided to join since it would give a new fresh challenge in working with the team in Amsterdam and the ability to work with people from different countries and cultural backgrounds. From my perspective a great opportunity to expand my skills, knowledge, and experience outside my own country the Netherlands.

If you could pick one theme for GoDaddy to turn into a book or movie, what would it be?

The opportunities the company creates for their employees. It’s basically a journey in life, in your career to become better and better every day with the help of very experienced peers, leaders to offer high-quality service and support for our customers.

GoDaddy is not a company that tells you how to organize and do your work. It’s a company that challenges you to start thinking about how you can do your work and develop at the same time. If I look at myself, I started in Amsterdam as a manager living in the Netherlands and am currently living in Germany, but also work in France to support our customers. I’m responsible for multiple data centers in the EMEA region and am responsible and accountable for all my staff in the EMEA region. I see the opportunities as a journey in personal and work life and the company gives us the opportunities to realize our dreams in work as well in life.

How has GoDaddy helped you grow as an individual?

By working with peers in different countries and with different cultures, it helped develop me as a person as well as an employee at GoDaddy. Doing so gave me the opportunity to learn about other countries, cultures, people, and the way they approach the business we run. The company gives me the space and the environment to be challenged and learn and to become better.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

A couple of my favorite things to do is going out into the Black Forest in Germany, as well as the Elzas Mountains.

On top of that, I listen a lot to music, play bass guitar, skiing and like scuba diving. I happen to be a scuba dive instructor and love to learn and teach people safe diving so they can enjoy the beautiful underwater world as well.

What’s the last song or podcast that you’ve listened to?

The last song I listened was from Queen, called “Spread your Wings”. Queen is my all-time favorite band, and I’ve listened to them since I was a young guy. Although I listen to different kinds/styles of music, Metal and Queen are my all-time favorites.

What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?

Well, I studied Electrical Engineering for the Energy Industry but I would probably have changed that to study history and give lessons or work as an archeologist. I have so many interests that it’s hard to make a choice here because I love history but also the unknown. There’s space and a lot of other topics that I’d love to dive further into.

As someone who has enjoyed the #GoDaddyLife, why should job seekers join GoDaddy?

GoDaddy is a company that provides a good work-life balance and gives you the opportunities to develop and grow as a person as well in your work. One of the most outstanding things we live by at our company is being customer-focused. We service and support small business owners to become successful with the products and support we offer. We base our values on customer focus, joining forces, and working fearlessly. Nobody is left behind at GoDaddy, as we work together, for each other, and for our customers worldwide. If you’re looking for a great place to work, join us. It’s by far the best company I ever have worked for in my career.
