It’s been more than half a century since the passage of the Federal Equal Pay Act of 1963 — but fair pay remains elusive for millions of women working full-time in the United States. Today, women make 79 cents for every dollar of their male counterparts’ median earnings, according to a report by the White House Council of Economic Advisors.
GoDaddy is among a growing number of companies working to close that gender wage gap.

In June, GoDaddy joined 28 leading businesses to sign the White House Equal Pay Pledge. The program aims to promote best practices for fair pay and to share ideas to better balance the gender wage gap.
More corporate support for fair pay
As announced today in celebration of Women’s Equality Day, the number of U.S. companies to sign the Equal Pay Pledge has grown to more than 50 businesses since June. To keep the momentum going, the original consortium now is uniting as a private, business-to-business organization called Employers for Pay Equity. The change enables the group to work independently and harness its collaborative power as an employer-led entity.

“This isn’t about making unachievable promises, or lending lip-service to the cause – this is about bringing together wisdom from an incredible range of amazing companies willing to share their best practices, to learn from each other and encourage more businesses to implement real change to balance the gender pay gap,” says GoDaddy Chief People Officer Auguste Goldman. “It’s the right thing to do, it’s what our employees and customers want, and it’s also good for the bottom line. It’s been more than 50 years since the Equal Pay Act was signed and yet we’re still not where we need to be as a country or a company.”
GoDaddy conducted an internal salary audit in 2015. Findings included:
- On average, for every dollar a man makes at GoDaddy, a woman is paid roughly one cent more.
- Women in technical roles at GoDaddy make about 99 cents on the dollar.
- Women in the management ranks make an estimated 96 cents on the dollar.
